Linford Christie After Years

Linford Christie, the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 meters at all four major competitions open to British athletes, received a two-year ban for taking Nandrolone, a banned anabolic steroid, in 1999.

Christie denied any wrongdoing but all his innocence claims were rejected by the IAAF, the world governing body of athletics. Till date, Linford Christie says that he promoted an anti-steroid approach and denies that his physique was gained through drug use.

In 1993, Christie and sprint-hurdler Colin Jackson formed a sports management and promotions company, Nuff Respect. Jackson later left the enterprise and Linford Christie has devoted most of his time to managing his company.

After his doping ban, Linford Christie made his acting debut on the BBC program Hustle in 2006. In April 2006, it was announced that Linford Christie would be a senior mentor for athletes on the national team along with former athletes like Daley Thompson, Steve Backley, and Katharine Merry. This announcement proved controversial because of the doping ban imposed in the past on Christie. Christie was however invited to be one of the carriers of the 2008 Olympic Torch on its journey through London but the athlete was unable to accept because of coaching commitments.

He appeared on the UK ITV television channel's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! show in 2010 and was the sixth person to be eliminated, on 30 November 2010. Christie caused a head-on crash with a taxi on 8 May 2010 and was disqualified from driving for 15 months and fined £5000.

Linford Christie Caught Doping

Linford Cicero Christie, rated by many as one of the British athletes of all time, stunned the world when he became the first European to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 meters. The career of Linford Christie, the most decorated British male athlete, however ended abruptly when he received a ban of two years for taking a performance-enhancing substance.

Christie, who managed to escape punishment after testing positive for the stimulant pseudoephedrine at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, was found guilty of using Nandrolone following a doping test after an indoor meet in Germany.

It was revealed that the urine sample of Linford Christie had more than 100 times normal levels of the metabolites of Nandrolone. Many explanations (including using nutritional supplements and eating avocado) were provided but all were rejected by the IAAF. This was despite UK Athletics feeling that there was sufficient doubt whether the drug had been taken deliberately. After the ban, it was announced by the British Olympic Association that the athlete would not be accredited for any future Olympic Games as per the regulations.

About Nandrolone

Nandrolone is an orally-effective anabolic steroid that is used by athletes and bodybuilders to improve performance, muscle mass, and strength. It is stacked with performance enhancing drugs like Dianabol (Methandrostenolone) during bulking steroid cycles.
